Porcelain Veneers

More individuals are finding that porcelain veneers can be the perfect answer to your smile.  Do you hate the mirror whenever you stand in front of it? Do you hide your mouth with your hand while smiling? Does each and every gaze make you shy? Then porcelain veneers may be just what you need.  Cosmetic Dentistry today has reached new heights. Your dreams of having a flawless smile is no more a dream but can very well be the reality and without costing you too much!

Porcelain veneer is a one stop solution to many of your tooth problems. But before we get into it; let us first know what it actually is. Porcelain veneer is a very thin sheet coating of very hard porcelain or composite resin that is put on the surface of your tooth enamel. This material has a natural white look and luster which makes your teeth seem bright and flawless.

If you have crooked teeth, gaps between your teeth, cracks on your tooth surface due to erosion then porcelain veneer is the right thing to opt for. Also if you have short tooth, broken tooth, or disfigured tooth then this is the best option available.

This process takes very little time and you can talk to your dentist and he can complete much of your problem in two or three sittings. The process includes a removal of some part of your teeth enamel. Don’t be afraid, the dentist will remove not more than 0.5 mm of the tooth surface .This will make the porcelain veneer more convenient and will not make your tooth look unnaturally big. But, if you have ill shaped teeth or crooked tooth, then your dentist might need to do something more. The whole process however in most of the cases needs no more than one to two weeks and after that you are gifted with a shining new smile.

Porcelain veneer though lasts for more than twenty years, you always run a risk of destroying it by chewing hard bones or nut. But this can very well be the case with your own natural teeth!

However porcelain veneers are quite costly and gauge your pocket before thinking about it. It can cost you up to $1,200 per tooth. But it is a worth investment considering its longevity.

There is another option available for you, that of bleaching your teeth. This process too does not take much time and you get in return bright smile. But that will not help if you have crooked teeth because it does not correct the setting of your teeth. It is less costly and affordable, for $300-$800 you can have all your teeth bleached.

But bleaching only lasts for two or three years and after that you need to repeat the process again. Whereas your porcelain teeth will last for more than twenty years and often whole through your life! Porcelain veneers thus are becoming popular .Without the agony of wearing those ugly braces for years and months you can have that perfect smile you always wanted in just one sitting. So leave your past behind and embrace your new life and your beautiful smile.
